Daniel Zen

Chief Instruction Officer / Systems Architect

Daniel has been at the forefront of web development since its inception. Born and raised in Montreal, he graduated from MIT as a Computer Science Engineer and briefly worked south of Wall St. Zen produced some of the first web based multimedia for children in Soho at an MIT Media Lab start­up. After a brief stint in advertising with Saatchi & Saatchi, he started zen.digital as a consulting & corporate training company, and taught programming at the New School & NYU while speaking at various conferences. In 2003, Daniel moved to San Francisco to work at Pivotal Labs where he was an Extreme Programmer & Manager ­ disciplines that later took on names like Agile Development & Scrum Master. He consulted for Google for over 5 years before moving back to New York to reform zen.digital. In April 2012, he started the New York AngularJS Meetup which meets monthly at Google's Chelsea office, and is still giving training and conference presentations.

Operations Director

Manon is the heart of zen.digital where she makes sure our clients are well tended by managing their communication with our developers. Well versed in the lingua franca of the web, she translates customers needs into programmers actions. She has a Bachelor degree in Business Management from the University of Bordeaux IV, in France where she started her career. She moved to New York to become the Operations Manager for Be Lingual, a language program for children, where she was in charge of 40 schools and 200 families before joining zen.digital.

Steve has been described as a Creative Strategist, Animator, Front­End Developer, Full Stack Designer, Adjunct Professor, and Dad. Each of these titles, however, are just labels on top of what Steve truly is: a problem solver. He is just as comfortable leading a team of designers, copywriters and technologist as he is creating wireframes and responsive HTML/CSS prototypes to solve problems with over 14 years of digital experience.

Daniel Zen has been teaching and writing software for the past three decades. He founded AngularNYC in April 2012, which is celebrating its 5th year. The meetup meets monthly at Google's Chelsea office. A Computer Science Engineering graduate of MIT, Daniel has taught computer programming and Agile methodologies at NYU, The New School, and for numerous Fortune 500 companies. He has worked on large scale art projects, as well as interactive installations at the Museum of Science in Boston & The Milk Gallery in NYC. A former consultant to both Google and Pivotal Labs, Zen is now focused on zen.digital, a Training & Consulting company which teaches Angular, modern JavaScript & other web technologies.


Yakov Fain

Yakov Fain

Yakov Fain is the coauthor of the Amazon bestseller Angular 2 Development with TypeScript as well as a number of other technical books on programming. Yakov works as a software architect at the IT consultancy Farata Systems and develops software products for the insurance industry. A Java Champion, he has taught multiple classes and workshops on web and Java-related technologies, presented at international conferences, and published more than a thousand blog posts.
