Tempus Gaming had a concept for a mobile game app called Paparazzi Empire, in which teenage girls, their primary demographic, would share curated news articles with peers to win points. The company engaged zen.digital to bring the concept to life by creating a fun app that would run on Apple iPhones and be made available in the Apple App Store.
Paparazzi Empire existed originally only as a storyboard concept. Creating a game app from the storyboard involved six months of development during which features, graphics, and game interface were drafted, revised, and perfected. The east & west coast design and development team had to coordinate across different geographies and timezones.
zen.digital created a hybrid app for iPhone using PhoneGap for a target audience of teens.
Technologies employed in the game app design included:
- AngularJS front-end
- NodeJS & MongoDB back-end side
- Jenkins on OS X with XCode
The Agile Development process was key to iterating the game’s look, feel, and flow as it was being created delivering the latest version to beta testers phones. The project’s scope, timeline, and working group underwent a number of changes as the project unfolded. The development team was able to realize the vision of the game’s original concept and add new improvements and dimensions as the work progressed.
Tempus Gaming feels that zen.digital was able to realize the vision of the game’s original concept. We were able to add new improvements and dimensions as the work progressed. Paparazzi Empire is now a well-received game available in the Apple iTunes App Store.
